Bamsoet Sebut Demokrasi Indonesia Masuk Kategori Cacat

Realitarakyat.com – Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo said that the condition of Indonesian democracy is still immature and falls into the category of flawed democracy.

Bamsoet revealed this based on the results of the report he received from the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2023.

“Indonesian democracy is still categorized as a flawed democracy. This means that our democratic life is currently still at an ideal level of stability and is in the process of reaching maturity and maturity,” said Bamsoet in his presentation at the PPSA XXIV Lemhannas National Seminar, in Jakarta, Tuesday (3/ 10/2023).

Based on the report, Bamsoet also said that Indonesia’s progress in various aspects was not in line with the development of democratic conditions.

He revealed that the democracy index in Indonesia was actually in a stagnant condition.

“Democracy’s achievements are because amidst the various achievements and progress that we think we have achieved, our democracy index still shows stagnation,” said Bamsoet.

Nevertheless, the Golkar politician said that Indonesia is considered a country that has successfully adapted to the digitalization phenomenon.

“We are considered a country that is able to take advantage of digitalization, but on the other hand, in terms of democracy, we are experiencing stagnation,” explained Bamsoet.

Furthermore, Bamsoet even said that Indonesia’s democracy ranking based on the report had decreased.

“In terms of ranking from 52nd to 54th position out of 167 countries surveyed,” he said. (ndi)
